Grill 'till you can't grill no more

Ahh the smell of summer, you know the one, it's the sweet smell of dewy grass in the morning as you sit out on the warm and breezy balcony sipping a nice glass of iced tea while listening to the birds sing in the trees. It's the smokey smell of barbecues in the neighbourhood being set to grill up a tasty dinner of burgers and sausages as the sun slowly sets in the west.

Yet there we were, 3 summers in the same apartment with yet to own a barbecue. But let's face it, 2 students living on a meger student budget trying to make sure that we have enough to pay the bills just can't afford a $300 barbecue. Until now...

Spending money on all those groceries finally paid off. For years Craig and I had been spending our PC Points on movie passes at 20,000 points for 2 passes. Which was a pretty good deal considering that at it's worst, movie prices went up to $12.50 a ticket. Buying groceries every week on the PC points system gave us enough free passes that we haven't had to pay for them since we started dating 5 and half years ago.

Free movie passes were all very well and good but we wanted more. Surely there was something more that could be done with these points; and indeed there was.

For a mere 75,000 points we were able to get this:

A Weber Q BBQ, portable, yet large enough to cook for a whole party load of guests. And the best part about it all was that it was free! Not just the barbecue, but the shipping too, we didn't pay a single cent for it.

Of course we had to try it out as soon as possible and thus cooked up the easiest and tastiest thing we could think of for dinner. And now we too can share in the joys of being happy Canadian summer barbecuers. Posted by Hello

I'd like to add that for those of you who are wondering, that's not a beer in the picture, it's an iced tea; note the lack of head (foam).
