Graduation Day

So Saturday was graduation day and Griffith University uniquely has international ceremonies in which the faculty comes to you as opposed to the other way around. This is especially nice for students who wouldn't normally be able to send their families all the way over to Australia just for graduation.

The ceremony was about an hour and a half long with one very special guest speaker to give the "occasional address". Doctor Rubin Carter who was awarded an honourary doctorate by the university for his work with the ADWC and Innocence Project. I also got to meet him after the ceremony and get a quick photo. He was very nice and

Following the ceremony there was a small reception. While having some cake and mini sandwiches I met Matt from KOM. For those who don't know, KOM is the Canadian company responsible for sending off applications to overseas universities as well as helping students prepare for the trip overseas. According to Matt since I was successful in traveling overseas and entering the Bachelor of IT program there there are now many students who are wanting to go too now; so I guess something went right there.

Follow your heart and your dreams and you will go far.

So how did you go with doffing?
I practiced before I went on stage and still messed it up.

I think it went ok, it's just one of those skills that is more luck of the draw than anything else anyway. It's not like they send you off to "doffing school" or something. LOL
