The Week of New Things

On top of starting a new job, a new kitchen counter installed plus a new shower head, which was a bit of a surprise and a new smoke detector (all free - I knew that rent could work for us!). The new counter is white instead of the old looking brown one, it makes the kitchen look much brighter and much easier to clean I think.

As for my new job, it seems pretty good so far, lots of free stuff and a few meetings. In my first week I've already been to 4 meetings and I haven't even really started doing anything yet. The company even sent out a welcome package from head office with a mug, t-shirt, notebook, pen and a "retract-a-badge" for my security badge. All delivered straight to my desk via FedEX priority mail; pretty cool!

But wait, there's more! As I write this entry I note that everything on my computer is running much more smoothly now; why? Because I just bought a brand new computer! Yup, and Craig helped me build it too (Thank youuuuuu!!! :D)

Normally I'd make these photos smaller but they're just too pretty not to have in a larger size on the front page. :)

The motherboard with the processor chip in place (freaky stuff installing that thing)

The glowy outside case, I love the blue bars that light up on the sides, the colour didn't come through on the photo, it's a bit washed out.

The one side of the case has a clear section in it so I can see inside the computer at all times, plus a glowy fan. :) There are about 6 fans inside.

Dual flatscreen monitors, of course! The little square one is my old monitor, note my tissue couch kitty's have a place front and centre now. :)

And finally an analog temperature gauge that let's me know what the temperature is inside my case, it's not too bad now but I'm curious as to what it's going to be like in the summer.

And for those of my techie friends out there here are the basic specs of the machine:
  • Viewsonic 20" monitor
  • Sapphire Radeon X1650 Pro Video Card
  • 2GB Dual Channel RAM
  • Samsung Lightscribe DVD +- RW (16x16x16DL 8X)
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Dual Core Processor 2.13 GHZ
  • 250GB HD
That's basically it, I love having this much RAM on my machine, especially since my other computer was having RAM issues. Now everything else can keep running when I start up a new program instead of everything having to wait.

So in all of this new stuff what other new goodies could be coming down the pipeline? Why, a new crockpot of course! Free! I cashed in some of my PC Points (mostly from buying groceries) and they should have one shipped to me in a few weeks shipping costs included; just like the BBQ we ordered a few years ago.

Even though it's almost the end of the year it's more like the beginning of the year for me. I can only imagine what's in store for me after this.
