Minor Power Outtage
We partially lost power this afternoon at ISV. It was at this particular time that I wished I didn't live at the back of the house because I certainly would have liked to have had the visual to go along with the audio that I heard from outside. Basically, I was chatting with Craig and I heard a strange kind of popping, buzzing sound and then a crack which was followed by my network connection going down. So I went out of my room to talk to the other people in the house to see if theirs had gone down as well.Eohan (who lives in the room next to mine) said that he had lost power completely to his computer and that when he heard the sound it caused his monitor to go crazy few seconds. So I unplugged my laptop from the wall and went outside to see if anything had happened.
As it turned out the power to some of ISV but not all was knocked out, my house for example still had some power although the amount of it was considerably decreased within a few minutes. When I went back to my room and turned the lights on they weren't quite as bright as they normally are. The landlord had lost power completely to his place and was checking the server room which had also lost power (hence why we lost Internet connectivity). He told me that because ISV has such a large number of people living there we have 3 different lines of power coming into the place.
I took a short walk out to the sidewalk and down the street I saw a bunch of men standing underneath a power cable pointing up at it. Within 30 minutes they had a power crew out fixing the lines so they had to turn off power to the entire neighbourhood so they could do the repairs which took about 30 - 45 mins. They actually made repairs to a few of the power lines, one of which looked like a piece of the wood had been broken off it. Anyway, they fixed it and all is back to normal now.

I've seen one of those go one time.. big poof of sparks.
That's crazy.
So how are you liking your time in Australia? wanting to come home or stay there longer than year?
Australia is pretty good. And neither actually, I think a year here will do nicely.
